Mamonia is a village in the Pafos district, located 8 km northeast of Nikokleia village.
The name of the village of Mamonia probably comes from the first inhabitants called Mamonades, who were shepherds and came from the Peloponnese and built the village. Some say that the name of the village came from the word Mamonas, which in the New Testament means the god of wealth and transport wealth. Mamonia suffered a lot from the action of the well-known Turkish criminals known as Hasampoulia (1895-1896).
After the village of Trachypedoula and shortly after the village of Mamonia, you will meet two huge rocks, where the "Hasampoulia" were hidden.
They left history with their blood-stained work. The place where they are said to hide and steal passers-by is a unique beauty landscape, while the specific rocks that stand up straight ahead are imposing and gorgeous!
